Zane Pētersone
ROUNDTABLE: Views from Intellectual Property Judges
Judge Zane Pētersone serves on the Civil Cases Department of the Supreme Court of Latvia. She started her career as a judge in 2002. Judge Pētersone has authored several publications, including the book „Civil Remedies for Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights” (2013). She regularly gives lectures on various areas of law, including intellectual property law, and has helped drafting laws, including the Latvian Trademark Law. Judge Pētersone is a member of the Circle of European Trademark Judges, EUIPO Boards’ of
Appeal Judges’ Quality Assurance and Legal Practice Panels, Mediation IP Judges Network, and WIPO Advisory Board of Judges. Judge Pētersone holds a Doctoral degree (Dr.iur.) from the University of Latvia and has constantly supplemented her knowledge, including conducting research on IP law at the University of Oxford. In 2020 Zane Pētersone was named one of the World IP Review’s Influential Women in IP.
